Presentation - Paulo Klein

It was a great pleasure to discover your work at the 2004 Biannual Naif Exhibition in Piracicaba. Congratulations!
As I also noticed at your house, your paintings have a sweet and gentle movement and are a joy to behold.
Continue to tread this path, weaving colors and forms as you do so well with your lyrical palette that carries us to distant lands, places and dimensions.
Congratulations Renata, for your ingenuous and spontaneous creation. I hope your art continues to teach us the beautiful in the simple, the simple in the beautiful, the art in life, the life in art. Congratulations, Renata!

THE PAINTING OF RENATA KESSELRING

Renata Kesselring is a painter. She is not a mere painter, however, but actually an artist. She does not only fill the blank space of a canvas with paint, reproducing what she sees or interpreting what surrounds her.
She is an artist because she is a creator, inventing forms, colors and rhythms on the flat surface of paper or canvas. She does not reproduce the universe that surrounds her but another universe, a pictorial world that springs from her culture and sensibility.
Renata gets her inspiration from reality or from her own art, which are the starting point of her intellectual and artistic journey. This is why her art has a new and personal mark. Persons, animals and things are transformed in her paintings, and the plastic consequence is convincing

A LOVING SIGHT (06/04/2018)

Art is a dialogue with the world and each creator can talk to him in his own way. Born in 1974 in São Paulo, Renata Kesselring carries out this process through two visual procedures: color and enjoynment. Both are articulated in order to create works that transmit good humor.

When contemplating her works, of different themes, but with a recurring presence of nature (trees and birds), large animals (horses, leopards, tigers, jaguars) or flower pots, it is almost impossible not to show a smile of contentment or satisfaction. Life seems to gain a different and mysterious meaning for each one.

Renata's paintings and watercolors offer a peculiar and particular understanding of the world. Each work constitutes a kind of narrative, as it suggests an earlier and a later stage. The image we see is a kind of frame, a frozen point in a story that is still in curse.

The development of this visual poetics by Renata Kesserling occurs through the use of tones, generally warm, to highlight elements. The compositions have a certain mystery to ask us how the artist performs her interpretations, with a smile on her face and a friendly and kind look at a reality that does not always give us a similar feedback.

Oscar D'Ambrosio, master in Visual Arts by the Institute of Arts at Unesp, holds a PhD in Education, Art and History of Culture.
